It's not yet clear whether this game will carry over anything from the Wolfless spin-off which arrived while Telltale were dead, Among Us. They've also called in the help of AdHoc Studio for Wolfamongus 2, who were founded by former Telltale folks, including the first game's director, Nick Herman. Game Informer reported in January reported that almost half of the new Telltale is now old Telltale folks. While the new Telltale is not the old Telltale and many employees had to scatter to other studios after the company closed, they have tried to get people back. For more info, check out this dev chat from yesterday with video game marketing celebrity Geoffrey Keigh: The sequel is set six months after the first, with winter now upon NYC and a new case for our hard-boiled sheriff to solve using investigation and violence. It focuses on Bigby, the fabled Big Bad Wolf, who's gone straight and acts as sheriff of the hidden district of New York City where the Fables live (it'd be quite bad if humanity discovered magical beings existed). It's a great comic, and the first game is great too (we declared it 2014's best adventure game). It's the story of 'fictional' characters, mostly from folklore and fairytales, who fled into our reality to escape a civil war. Wolfamongus, to refresh your memory, is an adventure game based on Bill Willingham's Fables comic book series. Guess which fictional character the Big Bad Wolf is giving a kicking this time! Now, they've finally opened up, with a new trailer and 20 minutes of devchat. And that was about all they had to say for several years. “We just need to prioritize and organize all our plans,” the studio said. When a new Telltale Games formed in 2019 from the purchased ashes of the fallen studio, one of their first actions was to announce they would make The Wolf Among Us 2. There’s more under wraps, according to InnerSloth. The theme has been settled on though! The next stage in Among Us is going to be a Henry Stickmin themed location! * A new stage! It is still very early and we have only just begun designing the layout. For the health of the game going forward we’re going to sink our teeth in and figure it out! This one will definitely take some time. This is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time but just haven’t been able to tackle. In the past we couldn’t add more colors because it became too difficult to tell players apart. This should also open the potential for more colors. It’s something we’ve put off for way too long… We plan on adding other identifiers for players as well as certain color focused tasks (Like wires). This is taking up all development time on his end. We don’t have an ETA but things should hopefully be getting better and better. Forte is still working very hard to figure out our server issues. InnerSloth outlined a bunch of features coming to the game, but didn’t provide timing. New Among Us players keep accidentally outing themselves as aliens “This is probably the more difficult choice because it means going deep into the core code of the game and reworking several parts of it.” “All of the content we had planned for Among Us 2 will instead go into Among Us 1,” InnerSloth said. In a post from earlier in the year, InnerSloth said Among Us had amassed 70,000 to 110,000 users per hour - up from 30-50 players per hour when the game was originally released. But the original game’s popularity has skyrocketed with a massive influx of players recently, and InnerSloth is choosing, instead of creating a sequel, to bring Among Us up to speed. In a blog post published Wednesday, InnerSloth described the code base for Among Us as “outdated,” and said it had been hoping to adjust it in a sequel. But because of the substantial growth of Among Us, InnerSloth is canceling Among Us 2 - to work on improving Among Us. Developer InnerSloth had already announced a sequel, Among Us 2. But its popularity peaked recently, in 2020. Among Us, the viral online multiplayer game, was released in 2018 - two years ago.
